Hi, I'm Lori!

I’m a Learning Experience Designer (LXD) with over 20 years of experience dedicated to human performance and teaching. By blending instructional design frameworks with user experience (UX) principles and learning analytics, I build data-driven, user-centered learning solutions that bridge performance gaps and deliver measurable organizational results.

Currently, I work as an Instructional Designer/LXD at Concentra, where I design end-to-end New Hire Learning Journeys and partner with stakeholders to turn complex data into intuitive, learner-centered experiences.

But long before I was mapping out corporate learning paths or deep-diving into Articulate Storyline, my journey in education looked a bit different.

🍎 From the Classroom to LXD

My foundation as a designer is rooted in an 11-year journey as an elementary school teacher and mentor. Spending over a decade in the classroom taught me the true meaning of empathy in design. I learned firsthand how to analyze diverse learner needs on the fly, scaffold complex ideas, and keep people engaged.

Transitioning into adult education and instructional design allowed me to scale that impact. Whether I was designing curriculum at Central Texas College, analyzing program data at the University of Colorado, or leading performance initiatives at Killeen ISD, my goal has always been the same: to create learning that empowers people to succeed.

✈️A Few "Plot Twists" Along the Way

I’ve always been fascinated by human connection and performance, which has led to some pretty interesting professional chapters before my time in instructional design:

  • Flight Attendant: Talk about a fast-paced environment! This role mastered my skills in hospitality, rapid problem-solving, and managing diverse human needs under pressure.

  • Call Center Representative: This is where I truly learned the art of active listening, patience, and clear, concise communication—skills I still use every day when collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders.

🎥Beyond the Storyboard

When I'm not designing learning journeys, tracking analytics, or exploring new AI learning tools, I wear a few other favorite hats:

  • Mom: My absolute favorite and most important role.

  • Avid Reader: I love getting lost in a great book, especially historical fiction. (Just don't ask me to read a thriller—I'm easily scared!)

  • Creator & Builder: You can often find me relaxing with a creative hobby like crochet or building complex LEGO sets.

  • Cinephile: I love winding down with a good movie.
